“Dear BYGOA, I cannot say thank you enough for your generous and continued support in my academic endeavors. I was the 2010-2011 scholarship recipient while pursuing a PhD in Chemistry at Marquette University. With the support of BYGOA, I was able to cover the cost for books and other college related recourses. The support of my donors not only helped me financially, but they encouraged me to keep going when I felt like giving up. As a former scholarship recipient it has motivated me to pay it forward to those I come into contact with. In 2012, I obtained my Master’s degree in Counseling and I am currently working toward a PhD in Global Training and Development. I am working as a high school Chemistry teacher in Milwaukee, WI and starting my own business. Upon the completion of my doctorate degree (December, 2017) my aim is to increase the economic development in Milwaukee’s low-income areas by assisting community members develop local businesses and providing vocational and technical training to students at the high school level. As a member of the BYGOA family, I look forward to being on the other end of the spectrum paying it forward.”
